ABOUT US

My name is Amari Johnson; Amari means builder. I am 16 and I am home schooled. I love to dance.  I was in Sr. Company at Shannon’s Dance studio for 3 years. I also dance liturgically at church.   I am currently doing choreography and teaching it to the other students at my church.  I love to travel, write, and sew.  I began sewing when I was 5 years old.  I come from a long descendant of seamstresses.  I am a fifth generation seamstress. I love being able to design and construct my ideas.    I am the Creative Assistant and Model Trainer at Sew Creative Preparatory.    I toured several cities in France and Europe with Sew Creative Preparatory. I raised funds by designing liturgical dance ensembles for an adult dance ministry, alterations work, and school fundraising opportunities.   My first debut as a designer was with LS1426, Inc in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Nov 2010.  I launched my first clothing line called “Just Happy Being Me” in February of 2012.

I launched my second full line of clothing called “World Changers” in the summer of 2013. Most of my clothing is children’s wear because, I love making clothes for children more than anything else. There is nothing like seeing their faces when they see what they get to wear in the shows. I just love it .In addition to the children’s wear, I have juniors clothing as well. This line also includes boys clothing.

I launched my fourth line “Speak Until The world Hears” in March of 2014. This line explains who I am as a designer and a person. I decided to do this line in my favorite colors red, black, and white. I think one thing that makes this line so unique is that it’s outside the box.

I recently launch my fifth line on my 16th birthday November 15th, 2014. It is called Dream Takers. I think it is a representation of growth. You can really see the difference in my work in this collection. You can tell that I love what I do and I take the time to perfect details. Every show I do is for a cause. I have raised money for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bullying, Eating Disorders, the homeless, etc. There are so many problems in the world and there is no time to do things that have no purpose, which is why I do what I do the way that I do it.

My company is called Amari & Mari Co. When I first named my company at age 10 I called it Amari. I stuck with that up until last year when I decided to add Mari. I want everyone to know that we can do anything together. Make a mark that can’t be erased, let people know you were here, Reach for the sky, the sky is the limit, anything is possible if you work hard and have good grades.
